2025 ONTARIO TREE PAGEANT

Tree Trust is delighted to invite citizens from across Ontario to nominate a treasured tree to be crowned as this year’s “Tree of the Year”.

Do you have a favorite tree that holds a special place in your heart? Nominate it as a contestant in this year's Ontario tree pageant. It might be crowned as Ontario's tree of the year! This contest aims to highlight the beauty, diversity, and significance of trees in our communities, encouraging the discovery of all kinds of trees and showcasing the rich diversity within our urban canopy.

Three trees will be selected by a panel of judges and honoured in mid-September. The first place contestant will win $500, second place will receive $250 and third place will receive $100.

To submit your tree’s nomination, please visit treetrust.ca or email your submission to PPalmer@treetrust.ca with a high quality photo, your name, the tree species, address or location of the tree, and up to 30 words describing why it deserves to be crowned Ontario’s "Tree of the Year."  The contest closes on Friday, August 15th, and winners will be announced in mid-September.

The Tree of the Year is a chance for you to showcase a tree that you treasure and tell the Tree Trust why it is important to you and your community.

Let’s work together to get the best trees in Huron County recognized! If you nominate a tree, post it to social media and tag us @stopsalongthewayhuron

Thank you to the volunteer judges, Judy Maddren, M.S.M. and Retired CBC Radio Journalist; Mike Schreiner, Leader of the Ontario Green Party and MPP for Guelph; Paul Zammit - Instructor, School of Environment and Horticulture; Terry Schwan, Professional Forester and Board of Directors, Forest History Ontario. The Ecclestone Financial Group has generously sponsored the prizes.

As we unveil this year's Tree Pageant, let us reflect on the profound impact that trees have on our environment, culture, and well-being. Together, let's continue to recognize, nurture and protect these invaluable treasures for generations to come.

Follow the pageant on social media @TreeTrust on Facebook or @treetrusttrees on Instagram to stay up to date on everything tree this summer!
