Hayter’s Turkeys
Turkeys are known for being a part of a traditional festive meal, but at Hayter’s Farm you can find turkey any way you want it, any time you want it. Turkey is a versatile meat, available at their retail store in Dashwood and at a broad market of grocers, as (fresh or frozen) fillets, steaks, burgers, roasts, sausages, and schnitzel, as well as the whole bird, smoked ready-to-eat deli meats, and oven-ready dinners. High in protein and low in fat, turkey items taste great on their own or with the complements of sauces and marinades. Hayter’s Farm retail store shelves also feature local producers such as The Garlic Box, Metzger Meats, Jerry Rader’s, Ferguson Apiaries, Rootham’s, Johnston’s Cranberry Marsh and Robinson’s Maple Products.
The property at Dashwood is the home of the retail store and is also the location of the barns where Hayter’s Farm turkeys are raised, making this a true farm-to-table business. Hayter’s has been a family farm for over 75 years, and is now in its third generation of serving customers. Their slogan proudly proclaims “Taste & Tradition since 1948”, the year that Harry Hayter began raising turkeys on the farm. The family continues its farm traditions to this day, with a passion for raising turkeys.
Turkeys take 15 to 16 weeks to grow to full maturity, and Hayter’s Farm is a full-circle operation raising over 200,000 turkeys each year and then processing them for market. The number of turkeys grown annually is astounding, and Hayter’s Farm attributes their growth to their 150 plus dedicated employees. Whole turkeys and turkey products from Hayter’s are shipped across Canada and available in grocers like Sobey’s, Farmboy, Longos.
