Exeter on foot

In order to further explore Exeter, two walking tours have been designed to offer visitors and locals a depth of history and flavour for the community you just don’t discover on your first drive through.

The first walking tour is set along Exeter’s main street, highlighting many of its architectural features from the late 1800s. This tour includes 11 stops: Exeter’s old town hall, the “Old Reliable House”, the Jackson Manufacturing Company, the former home of the Exeter Times  (which would go on to merge with the Exeter Advocate), the former Bible Christian Church, the Exchange Bank of Canada and the former Masonic Hall among others.

The second Exeter walking tour focuses on the town’s historic, heritage homes. The tour includes 13 stops (11 homes and two churches). Some of the houses included on the tour date back to the 1830s, highlighting the history and heritage of Exeter.
